Huddl

Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2025

Huddl (“we”, “our”) operates the Huddl mobile application. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

1. Data we collect and how we use it

  • Account: Email, password (via our auth provider), and optional display name — to create your account and sign you in.
  • Profile: Username and profile/avatar image — to display in the app and to other members in your huddles.
  • User-generated content: Huddle names and descriptions, sections, items, comments, templates, and completed huddle photos — to provide lists, collaboration, and memories.
  • Social/collaboration: Friends list, invitations, join requests, and who is assigned to which item — to enable sharing and activity.
  • Usage/technical: App version, device type, and real-time sync data — to operate the app and improve service.
  • Local-only: Theme (light/dark) and tutorial progress for unauthenticated users — not sent to our servers.

2. Third-party services

We use services that process data on our behalf:

  • Clerk — Authentication (sign-up, sign-in, account management). They process email, password, and profile info. If you use “Sign in with Google,” identity data from Google may be used.
  • Convex — Backend, database, and file storage for all app data (profiles, huddles, items, comments, friends, notifications, templates, photos).
  • RevenueCat (when integrated) — In-app purchases and subscriptions; purchase status and device/app identifiers for attribution and fraud prevention.

3. How we collect data

We collect data from you when you sign up, edit your profile, create or edit huddles and items, add comments, upload photos, and send invitations. If you use third-party sign-in (e.g. Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider. We also receive data automatically when you use the app (e.g. sync with our backend).

4. Sharing and disclosure

We share data with the third parties listed above to operate the app. We do not sell your data. We may disclose data when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.

5. Storage and retention

Data is stored on our providers’ infrastructure (e.g. Convex, Clerk, RevenueCat). We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your data within a reasonable period.

6. Your rights

You can access, correct, and delete your profile and content in the app. Account deletion can be requested in-app or by contacting us; we will remove or anonymize your data as described above.

If you are in the EU/UK, we rely on contract, consent, and legitimate interest as applicable under GDPR. You have the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under California law.

7. Security and children

We use reasonable measures (e.g. encryption in transit, secure authentication). No system is completely secure. The app is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in some regions); we do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this policy and will notify you (e.g. in-app or by email). Continued use means acceptance. For privacy requests or questions, contact us at huddl.support@gmail.com.
